So as a small business owner, you have valid reasons to invest in creating and adding videos to your marketing strategy.

But before you go shopping for a new outfit or hire a makeup artist or pull out your cell phone, there’s one thing if neglected that could make or break your video. It’s your script.

Why Scripts Are Important to Your Video

A good script will make sure you stay on point: Every video should have a point and a goal. It should have a clear and concise message. A good script ensures you make your point and not venture down any rabbit holes. These rabbit holes cost money if you’re paying a videographer by the hour. A video that doesn’t have a clear point and message can also cost you potential customers. The old saying is true…confused people will not buy from you. A script makes sure your point is clearly made.

A good script will save you time and money: Time on the set is money! Whether you’re filming in your own space or renting space, every moment the camera crew, the makeup artist, the stylist, your employees, you as the business owner are on the set costs! This is one reason we strongly discourage “winging it” on the set. A script, even better yet, a rehearsed script will save you time and money when it’s time to call, “Action!”

A good script makes for easy editing: There’s the cost to get the camera crew to your location and then there’s the cost to edit your video. A good script that’s been rehearsed makes for much easier editing during post-production and that saves you money. The fewer clips to comb through, the less patchwork a video editor has to do in post-production saves time and money.
